That first night under the stars, curled up in a sleeping bag – she knew. The wilderness was the perfect spot for making connections, and like the stars were twinkling in the sky as they both stared up into the inky darkness, a little spark was struck in each of their hearts that night. The energy of that spark brought them all the way back from Utah, to North Carolina .. driving Robert’s old car with all their belongings packed inside. They drove and drove, sleeping in the car as they went. A few days later – they’d arrived in Robert’s home state where they decided to make home .. for now.
The future could call them somewhere else. Both Robert and Alexis are not against more cross country treks, or wherever opportunity might blow them. The fact that they’ll take that next adventure together though, is pretty certain.
Alexis writes about how they first met each other, at a wilderness program helping troubled youth:
We met in Utah when we were both working at a wilderness program. We came from completely different families and backgrounds, plus I was from Utah, and Robert was from North Carolina. Our first month of knowing each other was spent in the wilderness camping, so we really got to know each other’s true self! Our first kiss was in sleeping bags under the stars. :) I loved how real he was, and we had a spark and connection that I couldn’t run from. He was so bold in the wilderness and I thought it was sexy! :) As time went on, I couldn’t deny that we had a huge connection, and I felt something for Robert that I’d never felt before in my life.
After a little over a year of dating, we both moved back to North Carolina to go to school in Asheville. We’ve been dating now for almost two years, and hope to get married sometime in the next year or two.
